The dangling cord that is supposed to "click" the light on doesn’t have any pull in it- it is stationary when I try to pull on it.
My wife was messing with it, saying the light wouldn’t turn off when she pulled the cord. I pulled it (not too hard) and the little bit of pull in the cord came out, didn’t go back in, and the light went off… but wouldn’t turn back on. Now we have no light in our bedroom. This is not an issue with the lightswitch, as the fan still works. Do I have to take this fan apart?
The thing isn’t even a year old. Very frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your response.

You have to replace the switch. Remove the 3 screws above the lights bottom cap to get access. Very easy! Just make sure you power is off!

Had a similar situation with fan capacitor. Very helpful
If you are handy, you can replace the switch yourself without much problem. You will need the new switch and a couple small wire nuts. You may be able to get them from the manufacturer or just visit your local hardware store. It is a fairly simple job. Turn the power off first.
