my ceiling fan is a harbor breeze cheshire from lowes when I turn on the fan the light fixture spins with the fan what should I do. cant find a website for this fan
Whoa! That’s kinda odd….who put the fan in and how long ago? Does the fan light spin briefly and then stop or is it continuously spinning?
I would try spinning the light in the opposite direction that it was going and it should sit into a groove and then your problem is gone. Inside the canopy of the fan there is a ball that surrounds the downrod (generally, unless it’s a hugger), that sits inside a bracket that mounts onto the ceiling. On that ball there is a small groove and on the mounting bracket there is a small, what I call a tit sticking out. The groove will kind of fall onto the tit and you will hear and feel it. Then all should be well. If that’s not it can you tell me more about it?

Try taking it down and taking it back to the store or finding a way to screw the light fixture in tighter. EIther it’s too loose, or there’s a defect with the product which can be potentially dangerous.

There should be a nut that tightens your light fixture to the fan body. I bet that is a sight!

You need to check you installation. I have never heard of you problem and would like to help but I need more information. If the light is spinning be careful of your wires as not to short anything out.
Email me if you want.

It is assembeled wrong and/or you have some wrong parts,It needs to come down, because if the light part is spinning too then it could be twisting the wires inside. Can you return it to Lowe’s? I would if you can and choose another fan and have a professional install it. some of these ”new style” fans have a lot more involved in the assembly of them and can be abit ”tricky.” OR if they have that fan out and up for display, take a look at it and see if you can see what is differant about that one compared to yours and maybe you can see whats wrong with the assembly of yours.Good Luck!

Did it ever work? Take it back if you can. It sounds like something wasn’t assembled correctly or it has a defect. Did you check the instructions? Let us know when you find out. Never saw this one before. It will probably wind up and break the light wires so be careful.
