We have two harbor breeze ceiling fans in our sun room with two separate remotes. They’ve worked great until the past couple of months. You have to push the buttons really hard for the light to come on the remote. One is worse than the other. I can’t find harbor breeze’s website. What could I do and what is wrong with the remotes? Thanks

remote contacts are bent or need to be cleaned………..

I have a seemingly simple problem that is causing me endless headache.

I have a ceiling fan in a room of mine that is currently operated by pull chains alone. Its power isn’t attached to any switch.

I discovered that some manufacturers have wireless receivers that fit above the fan hooked up to a wireless switch that fits in a switch box, but I’m having trouble finding the right one that is in stock.

My criteria are:

1. Receiver fits in the very small space for my downrod fan.
2. Transmitter fits in my switch box.
3. Compatible with Harbor Breeze Classic model 52" fan.
4. Separate controls for light/fan.
5. Compatible with non-dimmable CFL bulbs (no dimmers for the light!)
6. In stock.

Are there any electrical savvy folks who might be able to steer me in the right direction?

The best prospect I found so far is this:

…which is out-of-stock, and apparently not sold anywhere else!
Oscar, hopefully you pay another visit here. Do you have a specific model number that would work? The only switches I could find at Lowes/Home Depot seem to require a wire running from the switch box to the fan, which isn’t the setup I have in the room in question (there’s a switch, but it’s hooked up to an electrical outlet).

I agree with Oscar except I would strongly suggest turning off the power. I got mine at Lowes.

I am attempting to install a fan/light switch for the ceiling fan (it allows you to dim the lights or turn them off & to turn on the fan on,high, med, low, off). There are 4 wires on the device. 1 black with white stripe, one solid black, one green with yellow stripe and one blue. There are SEVEN wires in the wall. Three white, three black and one copper ground. I am supposed to attach the green wire to the ground. The three white wires seem useless so I capped them off together. The three black wires that are left have no defining marks so I have no idea which is which! How can I tell which wire does what? The black/white wire from the device is supposed to connect to the wall’s "AC IN L" wire. The solid black wire from the device is supposed to connect to the wall’s black "FAN" wire and the device’s blue wire is supposed to connect to the wall’s blue wire (which it DOESN’T have)Can anyone tell me how to wire this thing!? It’s Harbor Breeze Universal Ceiling Fan & Light Control (130622)

You will need to identify each wire in the box. I suspect you are on the right track so far, locate the power lead first, use an analog meter or a solenoid type voltage tester. Secure the power and then temporarily connect the power lead to one of the other blacks and then energize the circuit. Have someone observe what happens and then secure the power and finish the connections. One the black wires in the box is what your device calls blue. The wires used in the US for home wiring does not have the colors that are used in other countries or in commercial electrical work. If you still have problems call a qualified professional electrician.
