I’ve been living in my house for like 5 months now, and the ceiling fans were installed after we moved in. The three ceiling fans are Hampton Bay. We don’t really use the ones in my room and my mom’s room that much but my brother’s room is hot (even in winter because we live in FL) so he always runs the fan. Obviously when he’s at school he turns it off and there was no concern but now that my cousin is using my room me an my older brother (who would be using my room) are in my little brother’s room. As a result the room is always occupied by one of us and it is too hot, no matter how cold we put the A/C so we always have to run the fan. I know that really good fans can run 24/7 but I don’t know if Hampton Bay ceiling fan motors can handle that. So far my brother’s fan has been running on High/Middle speed for almost 2 weeks non- stop and I’m afraid it burns out. It is a fairly new fan and works perfectly fine, I just want to make sure it won’t break. Can we keep it running for that long?
Hampton Bay makes good fans. Running ti 24/7 it should last about 6 -10 years. When they start to wear out they don’t (burn out) they get noisy. I wouldn’t worry the things aren’t supper expensive and pay for themselves in energy savings.
I went to Home Depot and that’s where they sell the fan but they don’t have the 1 800 number for me and they don’t sell the replacement globe for my fan. I searched a few places and went to the websites that were provided like harborbreeze.com and it said it no longer existed. I don’t know where to get the model # for my ceiling fan but I’m sure if I can e-mail a picture of it to a company who knows Harbor Breeze fans then they can help me find the globe I need. Any suggestions?
the model # is on top hard to see you can by a new light kit and replace the old one
My ceiling fan (the lights)in my bedroom turns on by itself. I will wake up at two am and the lights are blazing. I will go upstairs in the afternoon and the light are on. Once while I was lying there staring at the fan they went on then off. That really freaked me out. Is there a mechanical reason for this? I have looked all over the web for this problem and I can find no answer.
Oh, and it isn’t consistent. It will happen 2-3 time in day or so and then not for weeks.
One more thing, it is a hampton bay with remote control.
Thanks. I was starting to think I was getting signs from dead relatives! Lol.
Something near by is triggering the remote on your fan. I’m not sure if you can change the code or not…..I would check with Lowe’s or Home Depot guys to see if there is a way to change remote code.
Nothing to worry about as far as electrical short. It could be some trucker talking on the radio when he passes your house…or even someones garage door opener….or maybe the neighbor living closest to you has a Hampton fan…check with them…they may be having the same problem when you turn on your lights…and it’s freaking them out….ha ha ha
