Have 3 sets of wires in wall. Two each are 1 black/1 white. One is one striped wire/1 white wire. The two white wires matched with the black wires are nutted together.
Leave the wires that are connected alone. You can tie the white wires together with the white wire coming from the power. Each black wire will go to the two switches. Black from the power in, will go to the other screws on the two switches. To do this, you need 2 short black wires to put on each switch. Then connect them with the black power wire.
Ceiling light in the house has two way wiring. I want to replace this light with a fan with built in light. How can I modify it to have one switch for fan and one for light.
Pigtail the hot wire in the switch box so the one original hot becomes two hots. Put each hot wire on a separate switch, one for the fan, the other for the light. Now pull a 14-2 from the switch box to the fan and tie the neutral and ground wires together in the switch box, the remaining black wire is your switch leg which can either power you fan, or your light. NOTE: you need to replace the light box for a fan box in your ceiling, light boxes are not designed to hold the weight of a fan.
My Ceiling fan has two chains, one for the fan blades and one for the lights however the chain for the lights is stuck. Is there any easy way to fix the chain so it can be pulled again so i can use the lights?
P.S: Tell me what I need to do to fix this problem by myself.
Tell me the steps to fix it Please.
Your light chain is connected to a switch which has probably gone bad. Your only option is to replace the switch. They sell a generic ceiling fan light switch at any hardware store.
You just have to make sure the power to the entire ceiling fan is off when you change it. To get to the switch you have to remove the light kit screws and let the light hang. There should be two wires going to the switch that’s sticking. You just unscrew the wire nuts and remove the nut holding the old switch on.
Install the new switch and hook the wires back up. Screw on the light kit and you’re done.
Good luck.
